How to Compress Large Files
Option 1: Reduce Image Quality
- Open your image in a photo editor
- Export or save as JPEG with reduced quality (70-80% is usually sufficient)
- Check the new file size
Option 2: Use Online Compression Tools
- TinyPNG (for PNG files)
- CompressJPEG (for JPEG files)
- Adobe Express (free online tool)
- SmallPDF (for PDF files)
Option 3: Resize the Image
- Open your image editing software
- Resize to a maximum width of 1500-2000 pixels
- Maintain aspect ratio
- Save the compressed version

Converting iPhone Photos to JPG
If you're using an iPhone:
- Open Settings → Camera → Formats
- Select "Most Compatible" instead of "High Efficiency"
- Retake the photo
Or use a conversion app/website to convert HEIC to JPG.
Tips for Successful Upload
- Use JPEG format for photos - it has the best compression while maintaining quality
- Ensure good lighting when taking photos to avoid large file sizes from grainy images
- Don't submit the same image multiple times if it fails - fix the underlying issue first
- Test your file size before uploading (right-click → Properties on Windows, Get Info on Mac)
Retaking a Clearer Image
For best results:
- Place your CXC slip on a flat surface
- Use natural light or good artificial lighting
- Hold your camera/phone parallel to the document
- Ensure the entire document fits in frame
- Take multiple shots and pick the clearest one
- Check that all text is sharp before uploading
